Hill Country Wound Care & Hyperbarics Names Michael Cascio, MD, UHM, CWS Chief Medical Officer
Nationally recognized wound care and hyperbaric medicine leader to strengthen physician-led model and expand advanced clinical care across Greater San Antonio

SAN ANTONIO, TX — March 10, 2026 — Hill Country Wound Care & Hyperbarics, San Antonio’s largest private network of advanced wound care and hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT), announced today that Michael Cascio, MD, UHM, CWS, has been appointed Chief Medical Officer. Dr. Cascio brings more than two decades of advanced wound care and hyperbaric medicine expertise, along with an accomplished record of clinical and executive leadership, to further elevate Hill Country’s physician-led model of care.
As Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Cascio will provide hands-on, patient-centered care while leading Hill Country’s experienced physician group and clinical team. His focus will include advancing evidence-based treatment protocols, expanding access to innovative therapeutics, strengthening collaboration with referring providers, and ensuring consistent, high-quality outcomes across the Greater San Antonio region.

During his tenure at Intermountain Healthcare, Dr. Cascio led a multiplace hyperbaric program that achieved UHMS Accreditation with Distinction, reflecting the highest standards of safety and clinical excellence in hyperbaric medicine.
Board-certified in Family Medicine and Undersea and Hyperbaric Medicine (UHM), and a Certified Wound Specialist (CWS), Dr. Cascio brings nationally recognized expertise in advanced wound healing, limb preservation, and hyperbaric oxygen therapy.
His background reflects both clinical depth and global perspective. Dr. Cascio served in the U.S. Army Military Intelligence Corps as a Russian Linguist/Analyst and later spent four years in Russia and Ukraine as a consultant before pursuing medicine. He earned his Bachelor of Arts from The University of Texas at Austin, received his Doctor of Medicine from St. Matthew’s University School of Medicine, and completed his Family Medicine Residency at St. Francis Hospital of the University of Connecticut Health Center. He also completed executive training through the Chief Medical Officer Program at Emory University’s Goizueta Business School.

He is passionate about expanding access to advanced therapies, including hyperbaric oxygen therapy, for those who have served, supporting recovery not only from complex physical wounds, but also from the long-term effects of service-related conditions, including Traumatic Brain Injuries and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.
